Episode 104 – Nabil Rajo & Jahmil French, The Real McKenzies

The Canadian Screen Awards take place on Sunday and two of the stars from the independent film Boost – Nabil Rajo and Jahmil French – have both been nominated, in the categories of Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. They talk about why the film – which tells the story of two young Montreal teens from immigrant families – is so resonant in this current cultural climate and what it means to be nominated for the CSAs.

For 25 years, Paul McKenzie has been at the forefront of the Celtic Punk movement as lead singer and founder of Vancouver’s The Real McKenzies. He talks about 25 years in the business, the band’s 10th album -Two Devils Will Talk – and why he chose to cover Stan Rogers
