A special show to start off the new year. Izad Etemadi and I go way back, to when we were just teen actors in a musical theatre camp production of Once On This Island in Victoria in 2005. Our paths diverged; he went on to study with Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA) before touring with a children’s theatre company for two years, before settling in Toronto three years ago. Myself, I bounced around universities before ending up at Douglas, creating short films and theatre pieces before coming to Toronto three months. And so we are. Former co-stars going to head-to-head. Me, the interviewer; Izad, the subject. Featuring a special guest appearance by Izad’s creation and alter ego Leila. It’s all in good fun to promote Leila’s new show Leila, Live, as part of the Next Stage Theatre Festival from January 3-14 at The Factory Theatre. Listen and find out why Leila is referred to as “the Persian Judy Garland”.
