In the age of Netlfix, web series are becoming an increasingly consumed type of media. But even prior to the streaming explosion, online shows always found an audience and were early utilizers of crowdfunding platforms. Recently, YouTube has become home to an ever expanding catalogue of shows. One such program is the Canadian-made Running With Violet. Created and produced by Rebecca Davey and Marie-Claire Marcotte, the two of them star as trying to have a girls weekend with a young toddler – and her teenage babysitter – in tow. The end up caught up in their small town’s drug war to often hilarious results. Season one aired in 2017, and season 2 premiered on July 15 of this year. I spoke with Rebecca and MC about the show last week. Here is our conversation.
